1 Dead In Shooting Near Durham Mall; 3 Arrested
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- A man is dead following a daytime shooting in a popular South Durham shopping area and three people have been arrested and charged following a high-speed chase.
The shooting happened Saturday about 1:15 p.m. outside Moe's Southwest Grill, which is across Fayetteville Road from the Streets at Southpoint mall. When police arrived, they found a bloodied man lying in the parking lot. According to media reports, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle traveling on Fayetteville Road matching a description of a vehicle seen leaving the shooting. The driver refused to stop, starting a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Brian Christopher Keys. Police say the shooting was not random.
