AG Wants NC Supreme Court To Review Case
RALEIGH, N.C. — Attorney General Roy Cooper is asking the North Carolina Supreme Court to review a decision ordering a new trial for the man convicted of strangling his wife five years ago.
Cooper said Tuesday he wants the high court to review last week's decision by the Court of Appeals to order a new trial for Brad Cooper.
Cooper was sentenced to life in prison in 2011 for the death of Nancy Cooper. He told authorities his wife went jogging near the home in Cary in 2008 and never returned.
Her body was found in a drainage ditch in a cul-de-sac of an unfinished subdivision near their home.
The Appeals Court said the trail judge made a mistake in limiting the testimony of an expert on evidence found on Cooper's computer.
