Freezing Rain Possible In Much Of North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. Some frozen precipitation is possible in much of central North Carolina.


The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 10 a.m. on the day after Christmas. Patches of freezing rain are expected until late morning, creating slick spots especially on bridges and overpasses.


The advisory is4 in effect for areas including Burlington, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Lexington, Raleigh, Roanoke Rapids, Rocky Mount, Thomasville and Wilson.


The weather service said patchy freezing rain also was possible in Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Greenville, Lincolnton, Monroe and Salisbury.


No significant ice accumulation is expected.
