Ex-NC Gov. Perdue Talking About Digital Leaning

RALEIGH, N.C. Former North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue is returning to the education policy arena after a one-year hiatus largely away from public life.

Perdue and former Wyoming Gov. Jim Geringer scheduled a news conference Wednesday on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh. The two plan to announce the start of an initiative to expand the use of electronic technology to improve the learning process. The organization is called DigiLEARN, or the Digital Learning Institute. Perdue is the founder and the group's chairwoman.

Perdue was elected North Carolina's first female governor in 2008 but chose not to run for re-election 2012.

Since leaving office in January 2013, the Craven County Democrat has spent time on the campuses of Harvard and Duke universities.
