Record Low Temperature Tied At R-D-U

(NWS)--The official reporting station for Raleigh (RDU) fell to 7 degrees, tying the record low which was set in 1977. The last time Raleigh fell to 7 degrees or colder was on January 29th, 2000.

 

The official reporting station for Fayetteville (FAY) fell to 8 degrees, tying the old record set in 1934. The official reporting equipment at the Fayetteville ASOS in place since 1998 has never observed such a cold temperature.

 

Other observations in the Fayetteville area, report that the last time that the Fayetteville area fell to 7 degrees was on February 6, 1996 when the temperature fell to 5 degrees.
