Weather Delays Opening Of Raleigh-Durham Terminal One
MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Cold weather has delayed the opening of a terminal at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
Airport Director Mike Landguth says Terminal 1 would not open on March 2 as originally planned due to unseasonably cold temperatures.
Landguth told the airport's authority board on Thursday that weather has made it impossible for crews to complete the aircraft parking area.
Construction crews have completely ripped up the old aircraft parking area, also known as the ramp, but cold temperatures have kept them from pouring the pavement.
The terminal building was on schedule to be completed on March 2, but the building cannot open without completion of the aircraft parking area.
The airport staff will announce a new opening date in early March.
