NC Senate Candidates Seeking Edge On Primary Eve

(AP)--U.S. Senate candidates in North Carolina are urging their supporters to work a little harder on the final full day before Tuesday's primary.

Cary obstetrician Greg Brannon is one of eight people seeking the Republican nomination. He's getting help Monday from Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul at a midday rally at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte. Paul endorsed Brannon and is a national tea party favorite.

Another GOP hopeful, the Rev. Mark Harris, will meet with campaign volunteers in Kernersville and Charlotte before they make phone calls and knock on doors. Candidate and House Speaker Thom Tillis also plans door-to-door activities with supporters.

The eight Republicans each want to take on Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan in November. Hagan also has a primary contest against two lesser known opponents.
