Storms Knock Out Power To 22,000 In North Carolina
RALEIGH, N.C. — Storms moving across North Carolina knocked out power for as many as 22,000 customers across the state.
Duke Energy said Durham County had the worst of the outages Wednesday evening, with nearly 7,500 customers without service at one time.
Nearly 3,000 customers in Wake County lost service.
Thursday morning, Duke reported about 4,400 customers still without service across the state. The worst problems remained in Durham County, with about 1,700 customers without power. Wake County had about 1,300 customers without service.
The National Weather Service estimated up to 3 inches of rain fell in parts of the Raleigh-Durham area Wednesday evening.
Emergency responders received scattered reports of fallen trees.
