(NWS-RALEIGH)--THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH HAS ISSUED A


* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR CENTRAL WAKE COUNTY IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA...


* UNTIL 745 AM EDT


* AT 448 AM EDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED THAT DUE TO LAST EVENING`S HEAVY RAIN IN WAKE COUNTY... WATER REMAINED ON A FEW AREA ROADWAYS... POTENTIALLY CAUSING TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES THROUGH THE MORNING RUSH HOUR. WATER ACROSS THE ROAD WAS REPORTED ON LILLY ATKINS ROAD NEAR HOLLY SPRINGS ROAD IN CARY... AND THE CRABTREE CREEK AT OLD WAKE FOREST ROAD REMAINED JUST ABOVE FLOOD STAGE... ALTHOUGH RALEIGH CITY OFFICIALS DID NOT REPORT ANY TRAVEL PROBLEMS.


* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE MINOR STREET FLOODING INCLUDE RALEIGH...CARY...GARNER...FUQUAY-VARINA...RDU INTERNATIONAL... APEX...HOLLY SPRINGS...MORRISVILLE...KNIGHTDALE AND WILLIAM B UMSTEAD STATE PARK. DRIVERS SHOULD BE PARTICULARLY CAREFUL IN THOSE LOCATIONS THAT TYPICALLY FLOOD DURING HEAVY RAIN... AS WATER COULD LINGER ACROSS THESE ROADS THIS MORNING.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
