Jarvis scores a hat trick as Hurricanes pull away in third period to beat Jets 5-1

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Seth Jarvis scored three goals and the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-1 in a matchup that featured a pair of rookie goalies. Jarvis clinched the hat trick on an empty-net goal with 1:03 to play — one of four Carolina goals in the final 8 1/2 minutes. Jordan Martinook broke a third-period tie before Jarvis’ second tally of the game came just 47 seconds later. Shayne Gostisbehere and Andrei Svechnikov each provided two assists. Alexander Nikishin completed the scoring. Mark Scheifele scored his team-best 13th goal for the Jets. Brandon Bussi made 12 saves for Carolina. Jarvis scores in OT, Hurricanes recover to beat Kings and stay undefeated

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Seth Jarvis scored 1:45 into overtime and the Carolina Hurricanes extended their undefeated start despite giving up a three-goal lead in a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Jordan Staal had two goals, Jesperi Kotkaniemi also scored, and Brandon Bussi made 25 saves for the Hurricanes. Kevin Fiala tied it up midway through the third period for the Kings, who have lost four straight. Trevor Moore and Andrei Kuzmenko also scored, and Anton Forsberg made 36 saves. Seth Jarvis scores twice and the Carolina Hurricanes stay unbeaten, beating the Ducks

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Seth Jarvis scored his 100th and 101st NHL goals, and the Carolina Hurricanes remained the NHL’s only unbeaten team with a 4-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Alexander Nikishin scored his first NHL goal and Shayne Gostisbehere matched his career high with three assists for the Hurricanes, who improved to 4-0-0 with their second win to start a six-game trip. Leo Carlsson scored and Lukas Dostal stopped 27 shots for the Ducks in their first home defeat under new coach Joel Quenneville.
