RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – Fort Dobbs State Historic Site in Statesville will host a special Historic Trades Day on June 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring live demonstrations of 18th-century crafts like blacksmithing, cooking, and shoemaking. Built in 1756 during the French and Indian War, Fort Dobbs is the only permanent frontier fort from that era in North Carolina and played a key role in protecting settlers and supporting British forces.
