CBS News says it will be up to Vance and Walz to fact-check each other in veep debate

NEW YORK (AP) — When JD Vance and Tim Walz take the stage for next week’s vice presidential debate, CBS News says it will be up to the candidates, not the moderators, to fact-check each other. That was a sticking point during the two general election presidential debates heard this year. Last spring, CNN moderators did not correct any points made by Donald Trump and Joe Biden during the debate that eventually led to Biden’s withdrawal from the race. What polls show about Tim Walz and JD Vance before Tuesday’s VP debate

WASHINGTON (AP) — This year’s vice presidential candidates both entered the spotlight this summer as relative political unknowns — but as they prepare to address their biggest audience yet in next week’s debate, Republican Ohio Sen. JD Vance is less popular among voters than his Democratic rival, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The findings of the new survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research reinforce a challenge for the Republican presidential ticket as voting begins in more and more states.
