PLYMOUTH, N.C. (NCN News) – A California girl, now 11 years old, missing for six years has been found safe in Washington County, N.C.
According to a press release posted on social media by the Washington County Sheriff’s office, the 11-year-old female child, whose name is not being released because of her age, was kidnapped on June 2, 20202 from Los Angeles County in California.
With the information provided to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were able to determine that the child was enrolled in Washington County Schools under an alias name.
The child has been safely recovered and is now in protective custody.
In a statement the sheriff’s office said, “These are very rare occurrences to have such a positive outcome on such an old case as this, but it reminds us that through hard work, and dedication, and cooperation. Stories with positive outcomes like these can happen.”
The investigation continues and it is not yet known what charges may be pending.
