ROXBORO, N.C. (NCN News) – Authorities in Person County are investigating the theft of roughly 700 firearms from an estate
According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department posted Thursday (March 12), investigators have seized approximately 700 firearms. Investigators learned that the offender had been advising individuals that the firearms were inherited from an estate and offering them for sale.
Several of the recovered firearms have been identified as firearms that were previously reported stolen in other jurisdictions.
At this time, six victims have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing as investigators continue working to identify additional victims and locate firearms that may still be in circulation.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and to protect the integrity of the case, limited information is being released at this time.
The Person County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who recently purchased a firearm from an individual claiming the firearms were inherited from a large estate to contact the Person County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division at (336) 597-0500.
