Nighttime closures planned for major roadway

RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – Motorists are being advised about nighttime closures along a major roadway this week.

Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close a section of Western Boulevard and an Interstate 440 off ramp several nights this week as part of the I-440 improvement project.

Eastbound Western Boulevard will be closed at the interstate and the I-440 West ramp to Western Boulevard will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday, weather permitting.

Motorists will detour to I-440 West, Melbourne Road, and I-440 East to return back to Western Boulevard.

Drivers are urged to use caution and allow extra travel time while traveling through the work zone.
