WENDELL, N.C. (WPTF) – A Wake County woman is facing multiple misdemeanor charges – including failure to report a child death in a timely manner — in connection with an unlicensed childcare center.
Tamika Jones Fowler, 47, of Wendell, was charged Monday (April 6), with multiple counts of child welfare violations and operating an unlicensed childcare facility.
Investigators charge that Fowler, while operating as a child care provider, failed to notify the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services within 24 hours of the death of a child, as required by state law.
There are also additional warrants outline several other alleged violations tied to Fowler’s childcare operation in 2024, including: operating a childcare facility at an unlicensed location, failing to maintain record, providing care for more than five children, including preschool-aged children, in a family child care and allowing child care to continue without a licensed provider present.
