RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – A Raleigh Police officer is out of job and faces assault charges stemming from an off-duty domestic incident.
According to information provided by the police, Ryan Greathouse was involved in a dispute that took place April 12, 2026, at 6340 Lakecrest Drive, Raleigh, where he is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend. Greathouse was placed on administrative leave while the investigation was conducted.
On Friday (April 17), Mr. Greathouse was fired from the Raleigh Police Department. After consulting with the Wake County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that Mr. Greathouse would be charged for his role in the incident.
Mr. Greathouse was charged with the one count of simple assault, assault on a female, misdemeanor Domestic Violence and false imprisonment
“Members of the Raleigh Police Department must hold themselves to the highest standards of personal and professional conduct both on and off duty. When we miss the mark, we must act quickly to retain the public’s trust,” said Police Chief Rico Boyce in a statement.
“The actions of one employee do not represent the entire organization, and the members of the Raleigh Police Department will continue to serve the community with the utmost professionalism and highest ethical standards.”
“Like all who are charged with a criminal offense, Mr. Greathouse will be subject to the judicial process. Additionally, an internal affairs review will be conducted concerning the arrest.”
