RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – A pedestrian is dead after a one car accident near Lynn Road in Raleigh Sunday (April 26).
Police say the crash happened just before 4 a.m. near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Westborough Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2017 BMW 320 sedan driven by an adult male was traveling toward Raleigh on Glenwood Avenue. Based on scene evidence and a witness statement the adult female pedestrian was in the travel lane and was struck by the BMW. The driver stayed on scene. There is limited lighting in this area.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the pedestrian is not being released until relatives are notified.
Impairment is not suspected in this incident. The driver has been cooperative. No charges have been filed at this time.
This portion of Glenwood Ave. was closed during the investigation and re-opened after 7:00 a.m. Sunday as the investigation continues.
