RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) — The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a male found in the Neuse River.
On Monday (August 3), just before 1 p.m. deputies responded to a report of person found in the water near Loch Raven Parkway. The male was pronounced dead on the scene, a victim of drowning.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
This is the latest in a series of drowning in the area known as “Raleigh Beach.”
Last month a 12-year-old girl died from injuries she suffered in the area.
An adult man died in the area in June 2025, and at there were at least four deaths in 2024. Local officials added warning signs and restrict vehicle access, noting the area has strong currents.
