RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – A major milestone has been reached for a major health care education facility in the Triangle.
The final beam has been secured Thursday (Feb. 26) for Wake Tech’s Perry Family Simulation Hospital at the Perry Health Sciences Campus in Raleigh. The facility will provide realistic multi‑disciplinary training for a variety of health care specialties, strengthening the pipeline of skilled health care professionals in our community.
“The Perry Family Simulation Hospital represents a transformative investment in the future of healthcare education and workforce development,” Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls, said in a news release. “This milestone brings us one step closer to providing students with an unparalleled, hands‑on learning environment that mirrors real‑world clinical settings. When this facility opens, it will strengthen our ability to prepare highly skilled healthcare professionals and support the needs of our growing community.”
The three‑story, 106,000 square foot Perry Family Simulation Hospital will enable Wake Tech to train more healthcare professionals in a comprehensive, realistic setting—from the patient check‑in area to a simulated emergency department, operating rooms, imaging and other diagnostic testing labs, to a simulated nursing center and patient rooms.
The Perry Health Sciences Campus expansion is being funded with $126 million from bonds approved by voters in 2022.
The project includes infrastructure, road improvements and a four-level parking deck. It’s being made possible through a unique collaboration between Wake Tech, Wake County and WakeMed, called the Wake III Partnership. The three entities worked with the City of Raleigh to establish a Health & Education District, creating a framework for land transactions and giving the college space to expand.
The new campus is adjacent to WakeMed’s flagship hospital on New Bern Avenue.
