DURHAM, N.C (WPTF) – Durham authorities have released more details on a Monday daylight stabbing death on the American Tobacco Trail, and say the incident was not random.
Police have identified the victim has been identified as Chesleigh Lyons, 51, of Durham. At this time, there is no danger to the general public, and this incident does not appear to be a random attack on individuals using the trail.
The stabbing that occurred in the American Tobacco Trail near the intersection of Fayetteville Street and Pilot Street Monday (March 9).
Officers responded to a report of a person stabbed behind the building near Fayetteville Street and Pilot Street shortly after 4 p.m. When they arrived, officers located an adult male victim suffering from a stab wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are asking anyone who traveled on the American Tobacco Trail between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9 to contact police or crimestoppers.
