RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – 2024 Miss North Carolina Carrie Everett has died after battling stomach cancer.
Everett competed in the 2024 Miss North Carolina competition as Miss Johnston County and was a double preliminary winner. She was crowned Miss North Carolina and proceeded to compete in the Miss America competition where she was also a preliminary talent winner.
According to the Miss North Carolina organization’s social media post. “Carrie forcefully utilized the platform offered by the Miss North Carolina title to encourage students in historically black colleges and universities to take advantage of the scholarship and professional opportunities afforded by the Miss America program. She also challenged minority and socially marginalized students to focus on goal setting and personal development, setting their sights high.”
According to her pageant biography, Everett was a student at North Carolina Central University in Durham, where she studied vocal performance.
She was 22.
