RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – Raleigh police have identified a rideshare driver who died in a crash, after he was reported missing.
Police now say that Linwood Phillips, 48, died in a crash around 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon (April 6) Police responded to the report of an overturned vehicle located off the roadway, down an embankment, into the woods off the ramp from I40 west to inbound Wade Avenue.
Upon arrival, Officers located the deceased driver was still seat belted into the vehicle. At scene evidence shows that the vehicle was traveling a minimum of 70 mph as it exited the roadway and then went airborne to final rest. The crash caused severe intrusion into the driver’s cabin, and the driver is believed to have died on impact.
Phillips had been reported as missing in Cary. Details about the missing person case should be directed to the Cary Police Department.
