RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – A man in is custody in connection with a Saturday (April 18) shooting death in Raleigh.
Police officers responded around 8 p.m. to a reported shooting at an apartment complex on 1820 Walnut View Road.
Police found 36-year-old Tyrone Vandyke suffering from apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered aid until EMS arrived on scene. He later died at WakeMed.
The suspect, Donte Young, 42, was detained and found to be in possession of a firearm believed to have been used in the incident. He was taken into custody and transported to the Detective Division for questioning.
According to a release, preliminary investigation indicates the two individuals were known to one another and were involved in a verbal altercation prior to the shooting.
As a result of the investigation, Donte Young has been charged with murder.
The investigation continues.
