CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WPTF) – Chapel Hill police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting earlier this month. Investigators identified Jose Luis Enamorado Flores, 22, of Chatham County, as a suspect in this case.
On Friday (April 17), they arrested him in Chatham County with assistance from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
Enamorado Flores faces 21 charges, including two counts of attempted murder, eight counts of discharging into an occupied dwelling, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Enamorado Flores is being held at the Orange County Detention Center without bond. He is expected to make his first appearance in court Monday.
The shooting happened on April 5 at an apartment complex at 200 Westminster Drive.
“The thorough work of our team of investigators paired with great coordination with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and SBI agents has been key in making this arrest,” said Chief Celisa Lehew in a release. “We’re incredibly grateful for their support.”
The victim was treated for his injuries, and the shooting investigation is ongoing.
Previously released (4/5/2026 2:13am): At 11:54pm, the Chapel Hill Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex at 200 Westminster Drive. Officers discovered a man with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident.
