CLAYTON, N.C. (WPTF) — The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an adult male who was inside a home during a fire Monday morning (July 27).
Around 1 a.m., the Garner fire department responded to a home on Guy Road, near Clayton. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the home.
During their search of the home, firefighters located an adult male and two dogs. The man was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased. One dog was pronounced dead at the scene and the other dog is in the care of Wake County Animal Control.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
The Fire Marshal’s Office will determine the cause of the fire.
