RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – The significant rain falls in July are leading the city of Raleigh to lift water restrictions in early August.
In a release, the city reported the Falls Lake water supply pool has reached 84% full, allowing the City of Raleigh to lift Stage 1 water restrictions beginning Monday, Aug. 3.
Rain over the past two weeks, including several periods of heavy rain, has helped increase water levels in Falls Lake. The current water supply level meets the requirement to lift restrictions under the City’s Water Supply Plan.
Secondary water sources have also improved. Lake Benson is full, and Lake Wheeler is nearly full.
While recent rain has made a big difference, dry conditions will continue across our region. Falls Lake is not yet back to full capacity, and it is important to continue using water wisely.
The city also said that Residents’ efforts during Stage 1 restrictions helped lower water use and protect our water supply. Simple actions, like limiting unnecessary outdoor water use and being mindful of daily water habits, such as shorter showers or only full laundry loads continue to make a difference.
