YANCEYVILLE, N.C. (NCN News) — Three people are dead after a shooting in the Prospect Hill area of Caswell County Wednesday morning (August 5). Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden explained to reporters that all of those involved were in the same family and the shooter is among the dead.
Deputies responded just before 8 a.m. to 352 Brooks Road.
The condition of the hospitalized victim has not been released.
Durden said all of the deceased died from gunshot wounds.
Officials have not classified the case as a domestic violence incident but confirmed the shooting was confined to the home on Brooks Road and there is no threat to the community.
The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, State Highway Patrol, Prospect Hill Fire Department, Caswell County EMS and the Person County Sheriff’s Office.
Durden said investigators do not have evidence that family members had previously reached out to the sheriff’s office.
