DURHAM, N.C. (WPTF) – The Durham Sheriff’s Office have announced an arrest as part of a drug trafficking crackdown.
Wednesday (Aug. 12), investigators from the Sheriff’s Anti-Crime and Narcotics Unit (SAC/Narc) arrested a Durham man in a continued effort to curb drug trafficking in Durham County.
As part of the investigation, a traffic stop was conducted on the suspect’s vehicle; a search of the same revealed approximately one (1) kilo of cocaine and two (2) pounds of marijuana. As a result of the seizure of the narcotics in the vehicle, investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence of the suspected trafficker located on the 500 block of BrightOn Rd in Durham. During the search, they located an additional 33 pounds of marijuana inside the residence.
Charged is 45-year-old Orontes Jecquil Rogers. Rogers, who was previously convicted on federal narcotics charges, was booked into the Durham County Detention Facility on charges of:
- 2 counts Trafficking in Cocaine
- Trafficking in Marijuana
- 2 counts Maintaining Veh/Dwell/Place CS
- PWIMSD Cocaine
- PWIMSD Marijuana.
He is being held on a $250,000 secured bond and made his first appearance this morning.
