RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – An arrest has been made in connection with a Tuesday (April 14) shooting incident on Creedmoor Road and Raleigh.
21-year-old Jalen Watson now faces charges including: assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver. He also had outstanding warrants on two counts of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver (two counts).
The incident happened at the Food Lion on 5633 Creedmoor Road.
Officers spoke with witnesses on scene, who said a verbal altercation occurred between two people in two different vehicles. Following the shooting, officers spoke with witnesses who reported seeing a silver Nissan Rogue fleeing the area. One suspect fled the scene on foot, while another left the parking lot in a blue Ford F-150.
Minutes later, that Ford F-150 crashed at the intersection of Millbrook Road and Winthrop Road. The driver fled on foot following the crash.
It was later discovered that a person showed up at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say that Watson was that person.
Police are still actively seeking the driver and any occupants of the second vehicle involved, a silver Nissan Rogue.
During a press conference on Tuesday near the Food Lion shooting site, Police Chief Rico Boyce said:
“The Raleigh Police Department will not tolerate this level of violence in our city. We’re going to work vigorously to identify those responsible. We’re going to work with our law enforcement partners, the Wake County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to make sure we hold those individuals accountable and make sure that they receive jail time for their acts,”
