DURHAM, N.C. (WPTF) – A Durham man now faces charges in a fatal crash Saturday (April 18) at the intersection of Cole Mill Road and West Wyndham Lane.
Just before 9 p.m. a 15-year-old male juvenile was using an e-bike to travel northwest on Cole Mill Road when he reportedly entered in the path of a Ford Explorer who was traveling in the same direction. The juvenile was struck by the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Joseph Savarino, 25, of Durham. He was charged with Driving While Impaired. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation continues.
