RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – Raleigh police have now identified the pedestrian struck and killed Friday night in a hit and run. (May 15)
Around 9 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the 3100 block of New Bern Avenue outbound in front of Wake Inn. The pedestrian has been identified as 54-year-old Nicole Shawnette White.
Preliminary Investigation indicates Ms. White attempted to cross the roadway outside a crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle. Ms. White was located by EMS down in the roadway and transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died because of her injuries
The driver did not stay on scene. Efforts are ongoing to identify and locate the vehicle involved.
This crash remains under investigation.
