RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) — The Wake County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for drug trafficking charges after a multi-agency investigation.
On Wednesday, (June 3), The Sheriff’s office the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Cary Police Department (CPD) conducted an enforcement operation in the 6100 block of Corporate Ridge Road in Raleigh.
During the investigation, officers seized approximately 121.55 pounds of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $16.3 million.
Deputies arrested and charged Jonathan Pena, 31, with 3 counts of trafficking methamphetamine and 1 count of conspire to traffic methamphetamine.
“This arrest and seizure are the result of teamwork across agencies. A large value of drugs was kept off the streets of Wake County because of this investigation. We value our relationships with our federal, state, and local agencies and will continue our unified efforts to eradicate drug trafficking in our community,” Sheriff Willie Rowe said in a press release.
“This 55-kilogram drug seizure in Wake County is a direct result of the strong partnerships and relentless teamwork. These drug agents and officers are on the front lines every day, identifying and disrupting criminal networks that threaten our communities. Their efforts are critical to keeping dangerous drugs off North Carolina’s streets and protecting the safety and well-being of our citizens,” NCSBI Director Chip Hawley said.
