WILMINGTON, N.C. (NCN News) – A medical issue is thought to be the reason a car drove into the Wilmington Farmer’s Market Saturday morning (June 6)
The crash involved pedestrians at the Wilmington Farmers Market in the 5400 block of Oleander Drive.
According to Wilmington police, officers responded to the area after a vehicle entered the market and struck multiple individuals. Several people were transported to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The Wilmington Fire Department and EMS personnel assisted.
According to a social media post by markets organizers posted shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday, the market was closed for the rest of the day due to what was called” a serious accident that has impacted access to the market.”
The market has been operating since 2018.
At this time, investigators say they believe the driver may have been experiencing a medical issue prior to the crash.
