ASHEVILLE, N.C. (NCN News) – Two men who escaped from the Vance County jail are now back in custody. They were found in the western part of the state according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Michael Miles and Lishawn Knott were taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:20 a.m.T Tuesday (June 9), at a residence on Old Farm School Road in Asheville. The State Bureau of Investigation’s Special Response Team (surrounded the home and executed the arrest shortly after midnight.
The suspects had been on the run since their escape on June 3, 2026. Officials say leads developed through a joint investigation involving the Vance County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the SBI led authorities to Buncombe County, where the pair was located. They had been on the run for almost a week.
The investigation into the escape and the individuals’ movements following their departure from the detention center remains ongoing.
