RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – Another teenager has been charged and is in custody in connection with the “Teen Takeover” in Raleigh’s Glenwood South area on Independence Day weekend.
On Tuesday (July 22), Raleigh Police Department detectives obtained a secure custody order for a 16-year-old juvenile in connection with the shooting that occurred at 610 Glenwood Avenue.
The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention facility. The juvenile has been charged with:
• Two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
• Going Armed to the Terror of the Public
• Possession of a Firearm by a Minor
• Three counts of Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits
This is the latest development after multiple teen takeovers, one at the Brier Creek Commons and then later in Glenwood South. There was a shooting at Brier Creek that left two bystanders hurt. There were also shooting incidents at Glenwood South and on Capital Boulevard.
Police said they took a juvenile into custody at Brier Creek and found that that person had a handgun. However, they did not believe that they were one of the shooters.
According to the Raleigh Police, about half of the teens who showed up on Glenwood South were also at the incident in Brier Creek.
