On July 28, the Sheriff’s Office received a report from FedEx regarding multiple phones that had gone missing from delivery vehicles. During the investigation, a FedEx senior security specialist told investigators that he had reviewed surveillance footage and observed Ray entering the facility and remaining inside for an extended period.
According to the investigation, Ray had been terminated from FedEx in December 2025 and was later found to have been using an ex-employee’s FedEx identification badge to access the facility. Investigators learned that Ray would enter the warehouse and access delivery trucks and vans while they were being loaded. Vehicles Ray entered were subsequently found to be missing packages containing phones.
Investigators also determined that on Feb. 21, 2026, Ray used an ecoATM at a Walmart in Zebulon to sell a phone that had been taken from a FedEx delivery location in New Hill on Feb. 20.
Warrants have been issued for Ray, but he has not yet been served. A court date has not been set.
