CARY, N.C. (WPTF) — The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes building a grade separation at the North East Maynard Road crossing and near its intersection at East Chatham Street in Cary.
This project will eliminate conflicts between trains and vehicles at the existing railroad crossing on N.E. Maynard Road near its intersection with E. Chatham Street. The proposed improvements will make the area safer and help traffic move more smoothly through the intersection and surrounding area.
A public meeting will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 6 at the First Cary United Methodist Church at 117 South Academy Street in Cary. The informal meeting will be an opportunity for individuals to look at preliminary design maps, talk to the project team and submit comments.
Project details and maps can be found on the NCDOT public input website, where questions or comments may be submitted to the project team. People may also submit comments by Oct. 27 by calling 984-205-6615 (enter project code 7714); emailing maynardroad-gradeseparation@publicinput.com; or mail to Mathew Potter, P.E., Engineer Consultant, NCDOT Rail Division at 1 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh N.C. 27699.
