RALEIGH, N.C. (WPTF) – A man is now in custody, and a sheriff’s deputy sent to the hospital, after an early afternoon incident near Jones Sausage Road in Raleigh Friday (March 6).
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Department, just before 2:30 p.m. a deputy who stopped at a gas station on Jones Sausage Road near Integrity Drive assisted with a subject trespassing at that location.
When the deputy attempted to arrest the adult male, he resisted. During the encounter, the deputy deployed pepper spray. The suspect then entered a vehicle and backed it into the deputy, striking him and colliding with other cars.
The deputy was transported to the hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries.
The Raleigh Police Department is investigating the car crash that occurred during this incident.
The name of the suspect has not been released as the investigation continues.
