WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WPTF) – A Raleigh police detective has been fired after an early morning incident in Wake Forest.
According to releases from the Raleigh Police Department and Wake Forest Police, RPD Detective Christopher Reed was involved in an incident at the Carolina Ale House, 11685 Northpark Dr.
Just after 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, Wake Forest Police responded to a report of an intoxicated individual.
Upon their arrival, offers learned that several minutes earlier the restaurant manager had asked an intoxicated person, to leave the premises due to disruptive behavior that included bothering several employees and patrons. As he exited, Reed attempted to strike two patrons on separate occasions before assaulting the manager.
A short time later, officers located Reed walking along Capital Boulevard/US 1. Reed, who had suffered cuts and abrasions after attempting to jump a barbed wire fence, proceeded to assault a Wake County emergency medical technician. Prior to that, he refused to comply with a police officer’s instructions.
Reed, 32, was charged with assault causing physical injury to emergency personnel, resisting a public officer, intoxicated and disruptive, disorderly conduct, simple assault, and assault of a government official.
He was transported to the Wake County Detention Center.

Early this morning, former Raleigh Police Department Detective Christopher Reed was involved in an off-duty incident in Wake Forest. The incident occurred at 11685 North Park Dr., Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Reed has been arrested and is currently being held at the Wake County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Disorderly Conduct
- Simple Assault
- Resist, Delay, or Obstruct
- Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
- Assault Causing Physical Injury to Emergency Personnel
- Intoxicated and Disruptive
Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce stated:

Like any individual charged with a criminal offense, Reed will be subject to the judicial process, where the allegations against him will be reviewed and adjudicated accordingly.
