RALEIGH, N.C. (NCN News) –- As they continue to search for a permanent replacement, the State Board of Community Colleges have named an interim president. The board has chosen Bill Carver to serve as the system’s interim president, effective July 1.
The former Nash Community College president has served in the interim role twice before.
In 2020 he served following the departure of then-President Peter Hans, and again in 2022, following the resignation of President Thomas Stith III.
He will fill the role being vacated by Jeff Cox at the end of June. Cox became the 11th president of the 58-campus system in June 2023, having served as the president of Wilkes Community College for nine years.
The job has seen significant turnover in recent years, with Cox announcing his retirement last August.
