PITTSBORO, N.C. (WPTF) – The Chatham County Sheriff’s office has now released the identity of a person who drowned Friday (May 15) at Jordan Lake.
Deputies with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Jordan Lake near the NC 751 bridge following a report of a body floating in the water around 7 pm. Friday. The body was located by a fisherman in the area.
The victim has been identified as David Schultz, 24, of Chapel Hill. Investigators recovered personal belongings nearby, including materials indicating the death may have been self-inflicted.
The body was transported to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy to determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
